    WHY THE COSTA DEL SOL?

The Costa del Sol is the coastal area of Málaga, part of one of the 17 autonomous regions, Andalusia. And if you only think of sun, sea and mass tourism when you hear the name Costa del Sol, you are really missing the point. The southern Spanish coast has so much more to offer.

It’s not called “The Sun Coast” for nothing. That has less to do with the fact that there would be more sun there than on the Costa Blanca or Costa Cálida, but everything to do with the long and warm summers.

It’s all a bit ‘more’ and a bit ‘more luxurious’ if that’s what you’re looking for. But at the same time it also overflows with authentic charming and simple villages. The interior is really teeming with hundreds of white villages. And history is never far off.

If people show us a picture of what they think is a typical village in Spain, complete with climbing roads and built against a mountain side, there is a nine out of ten chance of a village in Andalusia.

FOR WHOM IS THE COSTA DEL SOL IDEAL?

In short: For the refined bon vivants. For beach and ski enthusiasts. For those who like to stroll. For cosmopolitans.

But also for those looking for authenticity.

A mecca for golf enthusiasts. A rich choice of the most beautiful courses.

For those who only want to spend their holidays or for those who want to move to Spain.

    Malaga Laurence

Málaga, unlike the Costa Blanca which is divided into North and South depending on its position towards Alicante, Málaga and the Costa del Sol are divided into Málaga East and Málaga West.

    We start towards the west.

    Benalmadena Teleferico

    BENALMADENA

For those who like to have all kinds of facilities at hand, such as shops, beach restaurants and sunbeds, very nice harbor in a very special architectural style. Nice to spend an evening on one of the many terraces.

A stone’s throw from Marbella and in recent years in full development. Lots of choice of modern apartments with frontal sea view and a stone’s throw from the sea. You are at Málaga airport in half an hour.

    Mijas Pueblo Laurence 1024x427 1

    ALTERNATE

Mijas is located about half way between Málaga and Marbella. A stone’s throw from more rural, picturesque villages such as Alhaurín el Grande, Guaro, Monda and Tolox. (easy to reach)

La Cala de Mijas is located on the beach between Marbella and Fuengirola. Nice place with many nice restaurants and a very nice market. Beautiful, wide beach.

    WHAT CAN'T YOU MISS?

The Caminito del Rey: the king’s path. The path is 3 km long and reopened in 2015 after renovation. The path is located 100 meters above the river “El Chorro” and promises you amazing views. Close to this famous trail are the Ardales Lakes. Beautiful clear blue reservoirs. Guarantee for a particularly fun trip!

    Marbella Puerto Banus

    MARBELLA

Cabopino and El Rosario in Marbella is great for those looking for a green, natural environment.
The beaches are somewhat narrower and a beautiful dune landscape protects you against civilization.

Everyone knows Marbella and the fashionable Puerto Banús.
You can live there like God in Spain but also just like at home.
They remain inspiring and vibrant places.

AND THE FOODIES ALSO ARE NOT SHORT HERE

Our favorites are Dani Garcia’s BiBo and La Moraga Bistro in Puerto Banús. And a newcomer that we think is going to be a keeper, Cocina & Bar Cascada. The latter is, yes, you read that right, run by Dutch people. The same as those who put Hotel Restaurante Castillo de Monda back on the map.
    Estepona

    ESTEPONA

Estepona has developed very quickly in recent years. The reason is that you get a building permit here much faster than in Marbella.
The mayor of the city saw it all happen and has also invested in the necessary infrastructure works.

And the overall picture, it may be said, looks nice and will only get better in the future.

And yes, it is further from the airport but fifteen minutes more is more important if you can buy your dream property here at very reasonable prices.

As a new upcoming investment location, we put Estepona together with Sotogrande high on the list.

    Sotogrande

    SOTOGRANDE

Sotogrande is home to many water sports enthusiasts and boat owners. It is a bit reminiscent of Port Grimaud and you can perfectly walk from your apartment to your boat or even moor your boat in your garden. Very well on its way to becoming the new Saint-Tropez of the Costa del Sol.

In Andalucia, the interior is certainly worth a look.

    Sevilla Laurence

    CORDOBA – SEVILLE – GRANADA

Córdoba, Sevilla or Granada are the top destinations for those who prefer to fulfill their ambitions in the cultural field, you can be right in the center after a two hour drive.

And for the ski lovers: from Granada you are in half an hour in the  Sierra Nevada.

A ski area at 3000m that is almost always snow-sure from December to mid-April. For those who want to ski in luxury and are looking for a hotel on the slopes, the 5-star hotel El Lodge is the place to be. An extremely romantic luxury hotel. You imagine yourself in the Swiss Alps. If you only go for 1 day, I would definitely choose lunch on the terrace of the same hotel

    EAST OF MÁLAGA WE TIP:

    Torre del Mar 2 Laurence 1024x427 1

    TOWER OF THE SEA

Half an hour from Málaga airport. The destination for walkers and cyclists. Doers will certainly find their thing. Kilometers of flat cycling and walking paths, endless sandy beaches and, in good weather, a view of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

And along the dike a whole series of terraces and bars. You can even drink your Duvel there if you want (seen in For the same money on One).

Shopping center 1km from the sea and the possibility to buy your villa from 465000 Euros within walking distance of the sea and the shopping center.

    Nerja Laurence

    NERJA

A pleasant, versatile holiday destination on the Mediterranean Sea in Andalucia.
This is the easternmost town of the Costa del Sol.

Nerja’s location is unique, on a rocky plateau, above the sea, surrounded by a whole series of beaches. The typically Spanish narrow streets in the historic center of Nerja and the fact that the town developed later than the coast west of Málaga means that there are relatively few high-rise buildings. On the one side Nerja is surrounded by agricultural areas and on the eastern side by a mountainous natural area. No shortage of beautiful viewpoints and desolate beaches.
