WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS IN APRIL AND MAY IN SPAIN?

    Spread the love for Spain

Yes I do know, in Southeast Spain you can take your ‘kids’ to the beach all year round. But suppose it is a bad day or you are tired of that beach for a day, then I would like to share my ideal trips with you, completely child-proof.

Museo The Ocean Race, the only museum dedicated to the legendary Ocean Race, a sailing race around the world. You will find it in the port of Alicante. The interactive museum surveys 45 years of history of one of the toughest sailing competitions in the world. You will learn about navigation and the most modern technologies. You can climb into boats that took part in the race, you can participate in workshops and there is a real simulator ‘The ride’ where you can experience, feel and smell how the crew of a ship really alive. And for the fans of the Volvo Ocean Race, you can visit the control center from where the race, which started in Alicante since 2008, is monitored. MUSEUM (museotheoceanrace.com)

A little further at about 2.5 hours drive from Alicante, Murcia and Malaga you will find Miniholywood in Tabernas, Almeria.
It is a theme park built around Western films. Originally built in 1965 as a set for the shooting of Spaghetti westerns. These are western films, filmed and produced mainly by Italians, sometimes with American actors such as Clint Eastwood in ‘A fistful of Dollars’, but shot in Spain. Or how they can fool a viewer!
You can walk through the sets and to music by Ennio Morricone the films come to life by actors who re-enact certain scenes. They hunt with their horses through the streets of the set. The stagecoach is ambushed, the bad guys are always overpowered and fall from balconies, are tried and hang on the gallows. But in the end everyone survives.
You can then quench your thirst in the ‘The Yellow rose saloon’ while enjoying the show dancers who can dance the Can. And not only the cowboys are discussed here, but also the cowgirls. I was there this summer, at 38 °c! In the end it was not that bad because this is a desert area and the heat is rather dry, but also because there is also an aqua park next to the sets. A mini-zoo is also part of the theme park. And it is the intention that the animals can live in their natural habitat as much as possible.
Please note in winter the theme park is only open during WE and public holidays. MiniHollywood western theme park in Spain | Oasys (oasysparquetematico.com)

For both the Ocean Race museum and Mini Hollywood, I recommend that you first check the websites for opening hours. A matter of not having disappointed children.

Happy Easter and May holidays and remember La vida es bella
